Mulan Movie Review: Because…Chi
Live Action

Yay the live action Mulan is finally out, and it’s a shame that it had to be on Disney+. I really looked forward to watching this movie on the big screen, because with its sweeping scenic shots and action sequences, it was definitely filmed with that intention. At this point, we can all accept that live action remakes serve as lackluster cash grabs for Disney. We don’t love them, we don’t despise them, but they’re aight.
The Promised Neverland Anime Review: Perfect Amount of Creepy and Thrilling
Season 1

The Promised Neverland is a 2019 anime (currently on Netflix) about a group of children living in a seemingly utopian orphanage, but soon discovering that something much darker and more sinister is going on. The genre is a mix of thriller, adventure, suspense, and horror, but the extent of the “horror” isn’t bad (for people who might be squeamish). There aren’t any gory scenes or jump scares, so the focus of the story is more on the thriller aspect! From the very first episode, Finding Neverland sucked me in to the intrigue and the creepiness of the story, which I consider a major win. I also feel like the story as a whole is well-crafted. Themes that are introduced in the beginning definitely become important later on.
Aggretsuko Anime Review: This Show Speaks to My Soul
Season 2

I realized a few days after watching Aggretsuko S3 that I didn’t actually watch S2…but I quickly corrected my mistake and binged through it LOL. Aggretsuko Season 2 is back at it again with the high quality writing, humor, and character relatability. Retsuko is a 25-year-old red panda who leads a normal life as an accountant, and this show explores how she deals with her daily grievances like an overbearing mom, crazy coworkers, and figuring out how to be happy. A recurring theme of this season was the topic of love and marriage.
